About Margrit
Hello, welcome! My name is Margrit Rose Pittman-Polletta, and I’m happy you found your way here.
I am an educator and a dedicated practitioner in the Insight Meditation tradition. I began meditating while working as a special education elementary school teacher in the New York City public schools. I started meditating in an effort to manage the stress I was experiencing at work, but as I journeyed on this path I began to see that much of my life had been marked by discontent, anxiety, and a harsh inner critic. As I practiced and learned to relate to myself with compassion and wisdom, I gained confidence and faith that this practice, and the wisdom teachings of the Buddha, offered a clear way out of angst and stress. It has been an honor and a joy over the last several years, to put the practice and teachings that have been so transformative in my own life, into service for the benefit of others. This has taken the shape of offering mindful movement and meditation classes to my family and friends, teaching Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction at New York Insight Meditation Center. Most recently I’ve had the beautiful opportunity to join the current cohort of the Spirit Rock and Insight Meditation Society Retreat Teacher Training Program.
My practice is rooted in community, connecting with nature, both internally and externally, as well as exploring what it looks like to integrate every aspect of life into the practice.
If you’d like to practice together, check out my upcoming classes, or get in touch to connect one on one.
